Another successful and exciting race in the Bank Windhoek Namibia Motorsport Federation (NMSF) Enduro Championship was held on Saturday, 3 April 2010, at Monte Christo just north of Windhoek with a record number of 80 riders competing. This was also the second round of the Africa Motorcycle Union / Southern Off-road Challenge (AMU/ SORC) series.
During the race, the second in the 2010 series and co-sponsored by Snyman Transport, the riders had to cover more than 210 kilometers in sometimes very challenging and muddy terrain.
“Bank Windhoek is proud to be part of this successful event, where some of the best riders in the SADC region competed against each other. Bank Windhoek’s support ensured that Namibian riders were exposed to international competitors and with that improve their
performance”, said Riaan van Rooyen, Head: Corporate Communication and Social Investment at Bank Windhoek.

The Class One battle was won by Kai Hennes, who also achieved a second place in the SORC B1 Class, securing valuable points for the championship. Dirk Hohmeier and Jörn Greiter came in second and third place respectively. Ruan Roberts of South Africa won the SORC B1 Class, being the only South African that could take a win on the day.
In the Support Bikes Class Wanjo Kollmitt came first, followed by Ian Dykes and Phillip Mentrup.
In the new Masters Bike Class Luke Pennefather walked away with first place followed by Stefan Goike in second.
In the Open Quad Class (Class 3) Andre Basson dominated to bring his Honda home in first place and also secured the win in the SORC quad class. The Namibians dominated the field and the South Africans could not get a podium spot in this class. Jannes Augustyn and fellow Namibian Louis Steyl brought their quads home in second and third respectively. Jaco Snyman gave it his all but could not complete the last lap and had to withdraw with mechanical problems.
In the Ladies’ Quad Class there was an upset with 2009 champion Maike Bochert having an off day coming third behind winner Anneke Steenkamp and Yana de Jesus in second place.
In the Support Quad Class it was new rider Pierre Cronje who walked away with the title, ahead of Edwin Reed and Kevin Tagliaferri in second and third positions respectively.
The Junior Quad Class has also shown growth with six junior riders entering. The win went to Jandre Augustyn followed by Joshua Teixeira in second and Katelynne Liebenberg in third place.
Sakkie Snyman of the co-sponsor Snyman Transport said after the race: “It is great to see the growth in the sport and especially the national quad class with nine entries in this class alone. It sure makes the investment in the sport worthwhile”. Snyman Transport is also one of the backers for the Baard brothers, currently doing very well in the South African championships.
The next race in the Bank Windhoek NMSF Enduro Champioship series will take place on 26 June 2010 at Farm Omakwara in the Witvlei district.
The public is invited to support this event. For more information please contact the Enduro Working Group of the Windhoek Motor Club at 081 128 6289.

Henner Rusch won the Class Two battle, as well as the SORC B2 class. He was followed by Ingo Waldschmidt in second and Björn Bierbrauer in third place. Wayne Farmer of South Africa took second position in the SORC B2 class, with Heiko Hennes of Namibia coming third.
